The Anchoress Announces Spring and Summer Tour

Posted on January 31, 2025January 31, 2025 By Priptona No Comments on The Anchoress Announces Spring and Summer Tour

The Anchoress has announced more gigs for the spring and summer, which brings her as far north as Leeds, as far west as Cardiff and as far south as Aldershot. The tour is broken in two stages – dates during April comprise of Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool and London. Dates in June comprise of gigs in Aldershot, Milton Keynes and Cardiff.

I was really hopeful for a gig in Scotland but understand the reasons why that isn’t possible. I would love to see Catherine perform as many shows as possible. This time due to the way the shows and the locations have fallen, it means I can only go to London.

I’m gutted in all honesty. I feel a little ‘damned if I do and damned if I don’t’ on this occasion. I had initially held off with arranging the transport to London, preferring to travel by train where possible. But I really didn’t fancy my chances of getting the best “cheap” tickets for travel on the train. Usually the cheapest train tickets for Glasgow to London Euston are around £45 each way – multiply that by 4 and well …. that’s already nearly twice as much as the cheapest flights. Of course, the other upside of train travel is departing within the centre of the city and arriving in central London. No extra costs involved in getting to/from airports, etc.

Long story short, I decided to book flights instead. The Other Half is from Luton and so I decided to make it a wee short break away and have us stay a few nights in Luton, as three nights there costs as much as ONE night in central London.

As a consequence of that, it means I can’t go to any of the earlier gigs in the north, nor will it allow for me to travel to any of the June dates either 🙁

If the shows were swapped in order, and it had been Aldershot, MK, Cardiff and London FIRST. Then Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool in June – I could have gone to other gigs. Or…if I could have changed the flights so we could have flown down to Luton in June for the MK show, that would have also meant I could have attended more gigs. I looked into altering the flights and sadly it would cost MORE to change the dates than the initial cost of the flights – so that just isn’t an option.

I am really gutted that London will be the only show I can attend. I’d have definitely gone to at least one of the shows in the north but Leeds is on a Sunday and not centrally located – and Manchester and Liverpool fall on the day before and the day of our travel to Luton – so they’re not possible either. And the dates in June are too far south, and too soon after the trip to Luton/London for it to be financially doable. So…yep! I’m really gutted it’s just the one show only for me this time.

And that’s the sore point. My eagerness to support Catherine with her touring and gigs means I committed to London and now can’t commit to any other shows. It sucks arse!

Anyway…my personal woes aside – if you’re able to go to any of the shows, please do! Tickets are on sale now. Catherine has a fantastic band behind her. Not only is she a master musician herself, but Charlie, Leoni and Keir are all stellar musicians too. Catherine puts on the most amazing shows. You will NOT be disappointed!
