The Word is “Sacrosanct”

Posted on September 3, 2026September 6, 2026 By Priptona 2 Comments on The Word is “Sacrosanct”

This morning UK time, Simple Minds: released a new single, announced the arrival of a new album, followed by a European tour.

The new single is called ‘Beginner Boys’ and can be heard via the YouTube clip below.

There is a different mix as well… I’m assuming the first (above) is the ‘single version’.

New album is called Sacrosanct and is available in all the formats and bundles that you’d like to shake a stick at. All through Townsend Music, which I know will please many fans (/s). Oh, there are t-shirts too. And ‘test pressings’ which have already sold out (only to appear on eBay next year, no doubt).

The standard album has just eight tracks. The mythical Kerr ‘sweet spot’ as far is he is concerned for track-listing. The deluxe CD and 2LP versions are bloated out with single versions of songs, because shorter seemingly is better in today’s Simple Minds world. Sacrosanct is released on 29 January 2027.

The standard track-list is as follows:

Elysium
King of the Underworld
Beginner Boys
Jerusalem (State of Mind)
Our Secrets Are the Same
Songs
Alive in This Moment
The Next Right Thing

The deluxe editions include:

Seven
Your Name In Lights
Beginner Boys (Single Version)
Jerusalem (State of Mind) (Single Version)
Songs (Single Version)

The European tour starts on 5 April 2027 in Porto, Portugal and ends on 17 May 2027 at the 3Arena in Dublin. They head to Lisbon after Porto. They hit Spain for a single night in Madrid. France is next for ‘V’ shows. Italy get due shows. Switzerland is a lone one as well. Germany get vier shows – broken up by single shows in Norway, Denmark, and Sweden. Final stop on the mainland is Amsterdam. They then hit the opening night in the UK in London 6 May 2027. That is literally the only show that southern England get. Nothing for Wales, or Northern Ireland. If you live north of Birmingham then you’re fairly well catered for, until you hit the central belt of Scotland. A final hop across the Irish Sea for a show in Dublin wraps up the European leg of the ‘V’ tour.

Tickets are on sale next week. There are pre-sales, of course. All tour details can be found HERE

Details for the album pre-orders can be found HERE

Don’t know if you’re familiar with the UK TV show ‘Jim’ll Fix It” but a letter may have gone something like this “ Dear Jim, Please can you fix it for me to get a second mortgage to see my favourite band. “
Fuck that. All seated as well?? No ta. They’ve lost the plot.

Aye. Although, I do like a seat this days. I’m a fat old fart with legs that are working less and less well. But…there could have been the GA floor in place for the Hydro. It caters for both sets of fans then. But that doesn’t make the money. And, making it all seating for Simple Minds gigs (despite what the sycophantic “the prices are justified, stop moaning” set may like to delude themselves with) is ALL ABOUT THE MONEY.
I had genuinely contemplated going. It’s one of my best pal’s birthdays on the Saturday of that weekend. We had initially talked ourselves into going on the day the shows were announced. And then as the day went on…. and as the week went on I kept thinking ‘I can’t do this’. I don’t really want to go’. And then when the presales started I looked at the ticket prices and that completely made my mind up. In 2024, me and the bestie aforementioned went to both shows. We had seats in the side lower stalls. I can see from the email confirmations I have kept of buying those tickets that those two seats had cost £124 in total. ONE of those same seats this time is £111. They are DOUBLE what the were three years ago. They can absolutely FUCK OFF! In cantrast – The Anchoress is performing at Queen Elizabeth Hall in Oct 2027. The tickets went on sale yesterday. I bought two tickets in the third row for a total sum of £68.00. Yes…I’m travelling to London, and that’s an expense (transport, accommodation, etc) but for me I know it will be a much enjoyable experience all round.
