Yesterday saw the release of the ‘new’ Sparkle In The Rain (belated) 40th anniversary box set release. You can see how it looks with this unboxing video by Paul Sinclair of Super Deluxe Edition. Even Paul was saying ‘But £75? Yikes!’ I actually would like it now I’ve seen the unboxing, but I’ll bide my time and wait for someone to sell a discounted copy on eBay or something.
In addition to this is also news that there are going to be two blu-ray audio releases, exclusive to SDE – with both New Gold Dream and Sparkle in the Rain available in Dolby ATMOS – mixed by Bob Clearmountain. There is a whole list of variations on each blu-ray disc. They retail for £25 each, or can by bought together as a bundle with a slight discount. Click the link HERE to the SDE store to pre-order. There is only a short pre-order window which ends on 2 December, which means there is just over a week left to pre-order. Paul Sinclair states on the page it is the only way of guaranteeing receiving a copy as there might not be any extras made beyond with pre-orders received.
Finally, there are new dates that have been added to the calendar of gigs for 2025. Brazil’s dates have been confirmed with gigs in Rio De Janeiro and Sao Paulo on 3-4 May. Check the Simple Minds website for booking details.
As well as Brazil, there are a few new European festival dates as well. Two Germany dates and one Belgium date for July. They play the Sparkassenpark in Monchengladbach and the Loreley Open Air in St Goarshausen on 11 and 13 July. On 4 July the play the Rock Werchter Festival in Festivalpark. Again – visit the Simple Minds website for full booking details.
It’s all coming through in fits and starts…
