Yes, I know! This blog is fast becoming less a Simple Minds blog and more a Hamish Hawk blog. Which makes me wonder what the collective noun for Hamish Hawk fans would be? Hawkers? Hames? HH’ers? ‘Hawkers’ has a good ring to me. But I digress.
As some of you may be aware (if not, then – SURPRISE!) I’m currently deep in writing a book on Simple Minds (so no, I haven’t completely shunned the band that I love most in the world – not by a long shot!) and it’s not affording me much time to do anything else. As a result, it’s taken me a few days to get enough of a break to quickly post about a new single release from Camp Hawk called Nancy Dearest. I’ve only had the chance to listen to it a couple of times so far – but I know that Hamish delivers again and again. Nancy Dearest is no exception.
The video once again has been directed by the band’s guitarist, Andrew Pearson – a man with obviously many strings to his bow/guitar. This video is fantastic. And Hamish acts his socks off in it as well. Give it a watch. Give it a listen. You won’t be disappointed.
One last note on all things HH, I now have a ticket for the Travis gig at the Hydro on December 21st. THREE GIGS THREE NIGHTS RUNNING! Bloody hell! Two bands of Glasgow music royalty involved: Travis and Del Amitri, linked in varying ways to Simple Minds. And although Hamish actually comes from Edinburgh, I feel he’s an adopted Glaswegian. I do believe the fans love him as much if not not more here in the west than they do in the Scottish capital.
I’m gonna be knackered TF on Christmas Day! Lol. But it’ll be worth it.
In response to the question posed in your first paragraph…,Hawker Stalkers ! 😂
