RIP ‘Sweet’ Jaine

Posted on March 31, 2024March 31, 2024 By Priptona No Comments on RIP ‘Sweet’ Jaine

Such desperately sad news reached the Simple Minds fanbase today, Jaine Henderson has passed away. I spoke to Jaine twice when I conducted my first interview for the blog. When I approached her initially she had reservations and graciously declined my request. Just a few days later though, she got back in contact with me to say that she’d had a change of heart and would like to be interviewed. I was over the moon.

I feared that she’d change her mind again if I told her that I planned to record the phone call just so that I would have a verbatim record of what she’d said; a way to be able to accurately type out my transcript of the interview. A rookie error on my part meant the recording failed. I contacted her, fessing up to what had happened. She was amazing and agreed to another call. That allowed me to clarify some things and she was happy for me to record that. I still have that recording and it will be a treasure to me.

Thank you, Jaine for your time, patience and kindness. May you find peace with your continuing journey. A bright Mind has left us. I’m so glad I got to shine a light on you, Jaine.
