The Fanboy!

I love this story that George Underwood tells of him and David Bowie going to see Little Richard.

It’s part of Uncut magazine’s big obit to Little Richard. I had read the story some time back – but it bears repeating. If there is really such a thing as heaven and those of us deemed worthy get to walk through those pearly gates, I can imagine David seeing Richard arrive and saying “you took your time! Now…let’s get this party happening!”

RIP Dave Greenfield

Today we “WaltzInBlack” for the keyboard legend that is The Stranglers’ Dave Greenfield, who sadly passed away last night having contracted Covid-19.

Laid back and unassuming, Dave was an absolute master of his craft. He will be very sadly missed. Taken from us far too soon.

Remember The Bees

I feel guilty. I have such happy memories of 12 months ago. My second Acoustic gig. My first meeting with Jim! The day was so very special…and then the dreadful news filtering through to me on the coach journey home that night from Liverpool of what happened in neighbouring Manchester.

Today is for the bees…

RIP PRINT NME

With the news of the demise of the NME in print form, it is time once again to share the BEST cover the NME ever had in all its years of print…

So much so, a copy of it is on the wardrobe doors.

RIP George Young

Awoke to the news of the loss of a true music industry great.

George forged an amazing career in music, starting out with success with the Easybeats and on to Vanda and Young (Dutchman Harry Vanda being his long-time collaborator and song-writing partner), producing AC/DC albums for younger brother, Angus and more music chart success with Harry Vanda in the guise of Flash And The Pan.

A real music legend who mostly fell under the radar. In honour of George, let’s enjoy Grace Jones’ version of Walking In The Rain.

RIP George, you’ll be sadly missed.
