I knew it was coming and….oh, man alive, this one stings HARD! I was sssooooo close, pre-Covid, for it all coming to fruition. I had concert tickets booked, a place to stay – all I needed was to book my flight closer to the time and it looked as if it was all going to happen. Then bam.
Four years down the road and…I can’t do it. There is just no way. Okay…had the previous tour gone ahead it would have been with OMD and, it would have been grand but THIS!! ICEHOUSE, FFS!!! A repeat of 1981 (almost). Just…seriously. I’m devastated.
As much as I am reeling that I can’t go. That my ultimate bucket list wish to see Minds play back in my home country is no longer a possibility and I am gutted beyond belief – I am over the moon for all my mates and Aussie fans down there. What a fantastic line-up you guys are being treated to! You’ve had a long wait, so enjoy every bleeding morsel of it! ???
Hopefully there’ll be a Sydney date too, because that seems distinctly lacking at the moment. I always thought seeing them inside the Royal Botanic Gardens or outside by the steps of the Opera House would be magnificent. Jesus, if that happens, I may just fucking die of a broken heart.
Pre-sales open at 10am AEST on Tuesday, Aug 1, and go on general sale at 10am AEST on Kerrsday, Aug 3 (local times for Perth). I’m guessing – from memory of what I paid for tickets previously – you won’t see much change from $A300 for good tickets. For that line-up – I’d say it was worth the outlay. I fell for one of those bloody Ticketmaster ‘Premium’ things though and one of the tickets I bought set me back $A550 – just a word of warning. (Thankfully all my money was refunded when the tour was cancelled.)
Fingers crossed the Sydneysiders get something. Hopefully something for the lovely people of Adelaide too. I know they have fans there that will want to see them that can’t afford to travel interstate.
P.S. While the Mornington gig takes place – I’ll drown my sorrows watching Hamish Hawk at the Barras. Take the positives where you can find them!
Larelle the Perth tickets are up to $631.00. I can?t understand Sydney tho. They must be going to line up the Capitol Theatre. Flights here are so dear as well at this point in time
Bloody hell, that?s a lot of money for Perth! I think when Sydney happens (not if but WHEN – they def. won?t leave Sydney out. They can?t!) – it will be a bigger venue than the Capitol – unless it?s just them and no other acts for an indoor gig. I think they have to factor in the distances in Oz. It?s not like the UK or Europe. Whatever happens, I hope you and Ally get to go to at least one gig together and get to be in each other?s company. ??????
