In The News

Posted on July 2, 2023October 2, 2023 By Priptona 2 Comments on In The News

A bit of SM news – just so I don’t look like I am neglecting the reason this blog exists (hmmm). All old news already for the diehards, I’m sure but in any case…

A get together between Mick MacNeil, Derek Forbes, Brian McGee and John Leckie has been photographically doing the rounds. No one seems quite sure what it’s all about, but I’m sure we’ll all find out in due course. In the meantime, this photo was shared by Mick on his Facebook page.

In other news, the Sky Arts series of the Greatest Albums Live has kicked off with Dexy’s Midnight Runners, which aired on Friday,30 June. Simple Minds performing New Gold Dream at Paisley Abbey is episode four in the series, which means it will go out on Sky Arts on Friday, 21 July, but it can be viewed right now if you have Sky’s streaming service Sky Q at your disposal. You can also view it now if are a subscriber to the NowTV service. Details of the episode below…

Last Friday (30 June) also saw the release on music streaming services of Solstice Kiss as a single. It seemed a TAD mistimed, as surely it would have made more sense to have released it the previous Friday (23 June) or even on the day of the summer solstice itself (21 June)? Yes…I can’t help my pedantry about these things!

Other than that…all’s quite on the west(ern front) coast of Scotland, and Taormina.

Ciao for now!

Absolutely brilliant to see all these guys together.
Love what they have given us Minds fans in those early years.
Be very interesting to see what the project is?!
Mick looking every inch an islander with his beard shaved like that.
Makes me think of Whisky Galore or The Vital Spark.
They seem to have been photobombed by a guy scratching his ear though.
    Thanks Larelle!

No worries A&T. Will be very interesting what comes of it. The only certainty about it is that it must be to do with the early days of the band for the three of them AND John Leckie to be there with them as well. From a post Jim put on the SM Facebook page a couple of days back it sounds like he was in Glasgow recently too?so who knows what kinds of machinations are going on?
We will see in due course, I guess.
