ICYMI – Enjoy Some Dulcet Tones For Burns Night

Posted on January 25, 2022October 3, 2023 By Priptona 5 Comments on ICYMI – Enjoy Some Dulcet Tones For Burns Night

Looking for something else to do to celebrate Burns Night other than downing some haggis, neeps and tatties? May I suggest that you get your lugholes around this?

In case you somehow missed it (I dunno how you would!), Jim was on Billy Sloan’s show on Saturday night. Billy did ask one or two questions of Jim that I would want to ask him myself in all honesty. Jim’s responses were actually quite frank and full of humility. It’s always great to hear him talk.

If you missed it, you can catch up with it on BBC Sounds. Click on the player below to listen to a direct extract of the interview.

Of course there was talk about Act Of Love and the first official Simple Minds gig with Billy’s conversation with Jim happening on the actual anniversary of the gig (last Monday, Jan 17th).

The song is still an earworm for me. There was talk of it being played live when the tour commences – that will be great!

Thank you soooo much for the opportunity to listen to and even download a direct extract of the interview. I’m so happy about this.? I’m still trying to listen to the interview entirely and was a bit worried that I might not be able to do it while it’s available.? Now I can be calm thanks to you.

You?re welcome. I wanted to have it on the blog permanently. Things on BBC Sounds are only usually there for 30 days so I needed to get it downloaded off there before the 30 days were up.

Unfortunately, only for 30 days… It’s great that now you have it permanently and thanks to you I also have it.
I tried to download the concert at the Hackney Empire, but, unfortunately, in our country downloading is not available in the same way as viewing. But luckily, at least I was able to find a way to watch the concert. After a lot of trying, I finally succeeded. And I was left under such a great impression from the concert. I am still impressed by the atmosphere in the band and on stage in general, by the acoustic versions of the songs, by the interactions with the audience. It feels like seeing my dear and close friends after a long time. All of them are so wonderful! And everything is so inspiring to me!

It was a very special concert. And only the third Simple Minds concert I?d been to. It was a wonderful but bittersweet night for me.
