In other news…the Macallan Whisky thing is EVERYWHERE so…I don’t feel so compelled as to share it here. Great story and great use of Solstice Kiss. I have to say Ms Harbinson was quite the maverick. The only thing I keep wondering is if Charlie insisted that his cut of the licence for use of the music was paid to him in bottles or shares in the distillery. ????
Only a few days to go until I fly down to London to see Sarah at Ronnie Scott’s, feeling ostracised in all directions with this one! Going alone and will no doubt just sit in a corner as Billy Nomates all night. Hey ho. It is what it is. I feel REALLY apprehensive about going into London on my own. It’s nuts! I know! I’ve done it enough in the past but there’s just something now about the amount of time passed since my last venture into London and now living 400 miles away from there instead of 30 miles. I’m just glad that I’m flying into Luton instead of any other airport because I know my way around it like that back of my hand. I’d have loved to have taken the train but I was getting worried I’d never find a cheap enough fare and the flights were going to be cheaper than train fares anyway… WHICH IS FUCKING INSANE – THIS IS WHY WE HAVE A CLIMATE CHANGE CRISIS! And, yes, I do feel guilty for flying! I love the train to/from London and the beautiful scenery as the journey edges through that wedge between Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales.
There are also plans afoot for this blog. I feel I really need to give it a shake up. Study dictates just what and how much I can do right now but that is definitely going to be the most stark change! I have another blog. A personal one that really SHOULD be used for my personal content, so I will start very much separating out what is left of the stark, bold enthusiasm I have for Simple Minds from the personal stuff of study and all the other mundane crap of my life that not I even I myself is THAT overly interested in.
I’m still trying to come up with ideas on where to take this blog – as in THIS Simple Minds blog. I won’t lie, I still have an aversion to listening to the new album which saddens me. Hopefully in time (very soon, I hope) this will pass because although I don’t want to be a dripping sycophantic “they’re the best band in the universe and EVERYTHING they do is amazing” sockpuppet, I equally feel sad that my enthusiasm appears to be fading and shrinking away. Not good for a Simple Minds themed blog! I’d love for there still to be some irreverent fun like, say…”Titties Tuesday” (though I’m not sure I have THAT much topless content of Jim to keep it going every single Tuesday for the foreseeable future. Lol). I guess a rekindling of Kerrsday Thursday would be more likely. Minds Music Monday is pretty much a staple now but I might have to rethink the sub-theme of it or something.
When time allows I’ll think on and I’ll let you know when things are changing and how.
