A Stirling Gig and Antipodean Travels Abound

Posted on June 9, 2026June 9, 2026 By Priptona No Comments on A Stirling Gig and Antipodean Travels Abound

The tour new is beginning to trickle in. Firstly, one that has been swirling about the rumour mill for the past couple of weeks now with the band headlining on Sunday 13th September for the Radio 2 in the Park weekender in Stirling. Does Radio 2 not realise how bad the weather gets in Scotland in September? You guys in London might be used to your wonderful autumnal Indian summers that stretch into October. No such luck here! Even during the better summers – good weather, good enough for outdoor gigs in SEPTEMBER is a bloody stretch. But hey ho. Anyway, enough of my griping. Simple Minds will be headlining on Sunday with the legend that is Chaka Khan – ‘I Feel For You’, Chaka. Tickets are in the higher end of an average festival day ticket at *gulp* £84. Tickets are on sale from tomorrow and can be booked HERE

Interestingly enough, I had been considering going to Stirling that same weekend for a gig. Alice Faye is playing at the Tolbooth on Saturday night (Sept. 12). Do I change my mind now as Stirling is going to be abuzz with hordes of people … or does that make it potentially more interesting? Alice Faye also plays the Harbour Arts Centre in Irvine the following night so …. I’m considering my options.

Back to Simple Minds (do we have to? Lol)…

There was also teaser news of the band heading Down Under in 2027. The first hints of what’s to come for the ‘Flipping the V’ tour were posted on their socials late on Monday night. I’m going to guess that because the lead singer likes to roast himself to within an inch of his life that they’ll be going there first and touring around January/Febrary 2027? It stands to reason that the first announcements will be the ones played first. How extensive the tour will be and who they’ll be sharing the stage with (if anyone) is open to speculation at this stage. I’m sure full anouncements are imminent, esp. if they are going there for the scorching Aussie summer – time is a ticking. January is only six months away now after all.

Until then, keep saving so you can enjoy the gigs.

Tara…
