Some Succinct Reviews Are In!

Posted on September 16, 2025 By Priptona No Comments on Some Succinct Reviews Are In!

I’ve been keeping an eye out on the book review sections of the music magazines to see if and how they’re rating Our Secrets Are The Same. So far, there have been two reviews. Uncut concentrated on Blitz as their feature book with the Kerr/Burchill offering relegated to the “also ran” bullet-point rating of 8/10. Meanwhile, Mojo have given it a more thoughtful albeit succinct review and given it four out of five stars.

The Mojo review manages to cram in the use of the term “bromance” (cringe) while alluding to Kerr’s rather contradictory thoughts on his relationship with Burchill, summed up with two polarising quotes. It also makes a note of Kerr’s “reasons for bastardy” in relation to the rather Dead Sea Scrolls role-call of previous band members, which leaves no surprises as to the nature of its callousness. Hey ho…he manages to sleep at night all the same.

The reviews so far make me quite hopeful overall but as I know from going back to English Literature study, sometimes we have to read things that we don’t like.

I will, of course, give my own review of the book in due course. But for now, here are the two reviews so far…
