It seems as though things went well for the first gig in Santiago last night. Here are a few videos from YouTube that attendees recorded and uploaded.
It’s good to see from the videos I saw that Kerr is at least trying to concentrate more on delivering a vocal performance rather than trying to dart around the stage like in days of yore. Too little too late? I hate to say it but his vocal performance didn’t sound the strongest. First night rustiness? Only time will tell. I really am hoping that is the case, otherwise….
The setlist contained all bar two songs from Once Upon a Time (only ‘Oh ‘Jungleland’ and ‘Come A Long Way’ weren’t performed) as well as both singles from Good News from the Next World – ‘Hypnotised’ and ‘She’s a River’ with little representation from modern era SM with only ‘The Signal and the Noise’ getting an airing.
Next up is Buenos Aires on Thursday night. Tickets available at the Simple Minds website (aka simpleminds.com).

Hello
I’m Claudio Moreno from Chile.
I was with Simple Minds at the Santiago airport and then in the rehearsal room at the Caupolicán Theater. I have photos with them and their autographs. It was an incredible concert. It’s been a long time since they last visited my country.
Hello Claudio,
Thant must have been a very special experience. I’m really glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully Simple Minds will return to South America again soon.
He must of been tired from such a long flight of almost 20 hours? of close to it? Never mind all the hassles of keeping track of how everything is going plus the difference of time and air qualities…. And of course you never know who he chatting to on his chat line flying down there, the man never sleeps….
Jim sang beautifully, and Charly was magical on his guitar. Greetings from Chile
