This was posted this morning on SM social media. Hmmm. Sparkle In The Rain period imagery. Though, maybe moving into more early 1985/DYFAM imagery (this was used for a picture disc of DYFFABMFFS (Don’t You Fucking Forget About Bloody Me For Fuck Sake)). Whatever it is….I can’t even begin to feign excitement. If it’s alluding to THAT song and there’s going to be some tour surrounding it – I’m out! I cannot get excited about that. Sorry. If it has anything at all to do with 1985 and 40th anniversaries of Just Don’t or Once Upon A Time…then, no. I pass.
Unless it can offer up something truly different to me, my time of going to Simple Minds gigs will be over – at least for the foreseeable future (therefore possibly for good). There’ll be enough interest from elsewhere. Their coffers will be filled nonetheless so…
I hope I am proved wrong and there is something truly inspired coming with this but…there hasn’t been anything that inspired and different since….probably Acoustic. More likely it was 5×5 Live.
I was too in love before and too keen to “make up for lost time” to care to much what I was offered up tour wise. That ship has sailed.
Show me what you’ve got guys! Let’s see what “surprise” we have on Friday. You’re gonna have to truly surprise me to win me round!
Not sure if you saw the ‘Step on up this Friday’ text on the picture,so…, I’m guessing SITR played in it’s entirety next summer ( Edinburgh?) or a re-release of Waterfront. 😀
I did, and then I saw a post a fan posted on SMOG showing yet ANOTHER reissue of SITR being released. Ho hum. Honestly – record companies just have no fucking imagination with this shit. It was less than 10 years ago we had the big old box set business with SITR. Then there was a vinyl reissue released by HMV for their 1921 specials. I mean…how many more times can they repackage this album, ffs?! So, that AND a reissue of Big Music. Jaysus! Maybe it might coincide with a Sparkle celebration tour but…well, it’ll be 12 months too late for it to have been a 40th anniversary thing…so why bother? I mean, given the reverence that New Gold Dream is held in, and they really didn’t do that much with that – they might as well just do a 40th anniversary Once Upon A Time tour (as 2025 will be its actual 40th) and have done with it. Then again….almost every tour I’ve been on has felt like a OUAT celebration anyway. 🙄 🙄
