Breaking News: The Anchoress Announcement Tomorrow!

Catherine will be on BBC Radio 6 Music making an announcement on Steve Lamacq’s show at 4pm GMT tomorrow!

And…I just realised I might miss it! I’ll be leaving the house some 10 mins later to get to the city. Oh, bum! I’ll have to catch up! And I’ll share all the details here, of course.

Stay tuned! You can also check Catherine’s various social media too, either as herself or as The Anchoress.

EXCITING!

Briefly In Other News…

Someone dropped THIS bombshell this morning as I was preparing my punk themed post…

You guys know where to get all the info from. You don’t need me to update you. This blog would be surplus to requirements if its purpose was to report Simple Minds news! Lol.

The band have that one covered on their social media. Anyways!

Well, wherever he and Charlie may be…it’s bearing fruit.

There they are, offering that “black light” to us. In the heart of darkness, they shine!

In Other News – In Memory Of My Feelings – New Catherine Anne Davies/Bernard Butler Album

Now that we’ve gotten that crap “sycophancy Nancy” stuff out the way – drooling over 1982 Kerr aesthetic yet again! On with some proper business and serious music news.

Bernard Butler and Catherine Anne Davies have collaborated on an album together called “In Memory Of My Feelings”. It had been in the bag for some time and feared destined to languish and remain unreleased, but at last it is due to see the light of day.

The lead single from the album is called The Breakdown – rather fitting under current personal circumstances!

Further talk about the album’s imminent release can be seen on Catherine’s social media pages (as Catherine Anne Davie or under the moniker of The Anchoress).

This is not the follow up to The Anchoress’s debut album, Confessions Of A Romance Novelist. The follow up to that is set for release any day now – also some time in the bag and in the hands of the record label.

NME have a piece on In Memory Of My Feelings that you can read HERE.

The album is set for release on September 18th and is available to pre-order in various formats and bundles here – (I have already pre-order the vinyl signed version.) https://orcd.co/in_memory_of_my_feelings

Simple Minds In Canberra…

I absolutely LOVED Graham Kennedy. Known as “The King” in Australia, he wasn’t without his controversy. He particularly enjoyed performing impressions of Australian crows (which are actually ravens – just putting that ornithological fact out there for you) – which can sound like they are swearing rather painfully if you’ve ever heard them?

Anyway….I have no recollection of this, but I can bet I was watching the show that night. I was always watching Coast To Coast – it was essential viewing for me.

Finding this clip on the DVD had me tickled pink, it really did.

More little snippets of clips to come…

Kerr’s Got Another Babe…

Well, well, well….maybe he DOES listen to fans after all? Those who make a loud enough fuss, kicking and screaming that the dynamic of Simple Minds was fundamentally broken without a full-time keyboard player in the fold.

Enter Berenice Scott!

And…we are now back to full contingency.

A 12 Month Countdown To Oz…

Leaked news from one of the Oz fans of THIS! SM confirmed (it would seem) for A Day On The Green at the Rochford Wines estate in Victoria for November, 2020.

So, it would seem I might be spending my 50th birthday down there? Or at least travelling down there shortly after the big FIVE-O.

Details are there on Ticketmaster’s AU based frontage. I was told by another fan it appears on the Bandsintown site too.

All seems legit…but of course, nothing is official until it is Simple Minds Official!

Stay tuned, folks! There must be more dates/info to come? (I’m going to regret Bordeaux just that bit more now. It would have helped pay for Oz!)
