This new “The Bowie Years” box set of Iggy Pop is looking really good. Considering how much I love Iggy, I have diddly squat of his music as a solid format right now.
I think I’ll change that soon…
Well, well, well….maybe he DOES listen to fans after all? Those who make a loud enough fuss, kicking and screaming that the dynamic of Simple Minds was fundamentally broken without a full-time keyboard player in the fold.
Enter Berenice Scott!
And…we are now back to full contingency.
Leaked news from one of the Oz fans of THIS! SM confirmed (it would seem) for A Day On The Green at the Rochford Wines estate in Victoria for November, 2020.
So, it would seem I might be spending my 50th birthday down there? Or at least travelling down there shortly after the big FIVE-O.
Details are there on Ticketmaster’s AU based frontage. I was told by another fan it appears on the Bandsintown site too.
All seems legit…but of course, nothing is official until it is Simple Minds Official!
Stay tuned, folks! There must be more dates/info to come? (I’m going to regret Bordeaux just that bit more now. It would have helped pay for Oz!)

News on the Virginia Turbett front. There’s a book on Iggy Pop coming out. In his own words, it seems. Not quite a memoir, as such, but more the printing of his lyrics with notes and photos complimenting and elaborating on the thought processes involved in the craft of songwriting.
It sounds really good. And a bit of a left-field choice for a publisher like Penguin Books!
Some of Virginia Turbett’s photos of Iggy feature in the book. And wow, she has taken some AMAZING photos of Iggy over the years. Along with continuing to expand upon my own personal Simple Minds archive of VT’s work, I plan to get some Iggy photos from her as well.
Check out Virginia’s website to view some of her wonderful Iggy stills – https://virginiaturbett.com
You can pre-order the book from the Penguin website, just CLICK HERE to be taken to the site.
Sir, in phone conversation with Ewen Cameron on his Breakfast show this morning. Will there be a tour of Scotland next year? A phrase about the pope and some bears springs to mind…
