Ist Ist Album Launch in Edinburgh and Hamish Hawk Album Reviews

Posted on December 10, 2025December 10, 2025 By Priptona No Comments on Ist Ist Album Launch in Edinburgh and Hamish Hawk Album Reviews

A bit of a double bill of info for this post. The first was the announcement by Ist Ist on their social media over the weekend of some album launch shows over the country during the week of the release of their forthcoming album, Dagger. I had to check and see if any were taking place near here and to my joy they’ll be back at The Caves in Edinburgh for one of the launch shows. Tickets went on sale yesterday, so I grabbed myself one – eager beaver that I was anxiously waiting for the page on the Assai website to sort itself out so I could book a ticket straight away. I’m so chuffed to be seeing them again so soon after the Oran Mor show. These guys are fast becoming one of my favourite bands right now. Check out ististmusic.com for info on the shows.

Speaking of anticipation and favourite bands – Hamish Hawk plays the Barras tomorrow night. I received my copy of Life in a Scotch Sitting Room, Vol. 0 on Saturday morning and I have as yet listened to it. I’ve been manically studying to get myself ahead so I could take the rest of the week off to enjoy the gig and have Friday as a recovery day.

I’ve been checking out the music magazines through Glasgow Libraries online catalogue and both Uncut and Mojo magazines reviewed LIASSR and both gave rather glowing reviews. I was quite surprised to see that both of the mags had even reviewed the album as it is such a niche thing. I genuinely didn’t think they’d bother to review it but it’s great to see they both sung the album’s praises. The show itself at Edinburgh Book Fest was fantastic and if Hamish, Andy and Stefan were ale to recreate that in the studio it’ll be a fine thing. Hamish’s artwork for the album is gorgeous. The man exhibits no end of talents!

Uncut on the left, Mojo on the right – click the images for better reading ability.

And just to reiterate, YES, I am bloody BUZZING for tomorrow night! The calibre of supports is flipping awesome, and then there’s HH as well. What a night it is promising to be. Hopefully I won’t be too knackered to write a review in the days following…though I think we can safely say my review will be glowing.

Tara for noo.
