UPDATE 19/09/2025: Thanks to Scott for the heads up on the change of date to the event. It’s now taking place (at least for now!) on Monday 20 October at a different venue. If memory serves me well, it’s the same venue where Graeme Thomson was in conversation with Bruce Findlay back in August 2022. There is also an increase in the price of the student discount, from £12 to £15. The money is just never enough, eh? *rolls eyes*
Here’s the link AGAIN with the newest of the new and updated version. If it changes again, I’m gonna delete this whole frigging post and stop promoting these book events. They don’t need my help. Tickets HERE
UPDATE 18/09/25: I give up! The link was there, then it wasn’t. Then it reappeared and now it’s bloody disappeared AGAIN! DO YOU ACTUALLY WANT PEOPLE TO BOOK TICKETS TO GO TO THIS BLOODY THING OR WHAT? Fuck’s sake! I’m done trying to provide updates with this thing now. My suggestion is that you keep an eye on the Topping Edinburgh events page HERE
Good luck with your ticket purchases people.
UPDATE: As of Monday (15 Sept) the link has returned to the Topping website with, seemingly, an increase in ticket price. Hmmm. Why am I NOT surprised?! Heaven forbid they should be “undervalued.” Jesus, do you need the money that much? *Rolls eyes*
Anyway – here’s the link once again. No option to just attend and not be tied to buying a book of some sort, somehow, either through a “token” or whatever. All I know is the £10 option is gone and that “standard” tickets are £20. Students can go for £12. (Are there students out there that would want to?) Tickets HERE
Still waiting on confirmation of the Aye Write Glasgow appearance. Will alert when news comes in.
P.S. Would love to know what happened with the people that already purchased tickets? Did they have they’re tickets refunded and had to rebook or what the hay? One wonders…
I was wondering if this was even going to happen given the number of signed copies that are available to pre-order through various book stores up and down the country (and yes, I did pre-order a copy from a book store all the way down the other end of the country – in Brighton – anything closer to home had already sold out). But, alas, the Glesga Twins seem to be doing at least ONE book store appearance for Our Secrets are the Same, and they’ve chosen to do that in …. Edinburgh? Yeah, I know! Most fans appear to be holding out for news on appearances closer to home (I’m avoiding calling it a “book signing” because, well….I think most of the diehards have already pre-ordered signed copies. It’s all a bit of a mess, really. I swear the management could do with Elaine Hawkes coming out of retirement. Geez-o!). I mean, you WOULD expect at least ONE Glasgow store appearance, right? I can’t find any sign of it so far from the searches I have done. Aye Write is back on in November and there is no sign of them doing anything for that, although Graeme Thomson is doing something for the festival, as is Billy Sloan, so who knows?
As far as I can see, there are no Toppings stores in Glasgow. The largest stores here are Waterstones. I even checked HMV, as they do have book signing events that are music related, and I see nothing, so your guess is as good as mine.
Just a quick note – the appearance is NOT happening at the Toppings store itself but at a church nearby.
Will they do appearances at other stores? How long is a piece of string?
The Edinburgh appearance is three weeks after the release of the book, so that’s already a bit weird in itself. Seems like a rash, last-minute affair, does it not?

They changed the date to the 20th October.
As well as changing the price of the student discount too, FFS! Money, money, money…
Thanks for letting me know about the change of date, Scobes. I gave up caring after all the “on again/off again” BS of it all.
