We Have A Winner!

Posted on March 4, 2025March 4, 2025 By Priptona 5 Comments on We Have A Winner!

Thank you for all the entries received for the giveaway for a copy of Lee Stuart Evans’ fabulous book Pleasantly Disturbed. The correct answer to the question was, of course, Life in a Day.

Congratulations to Valeria who, as the first name drawn form the correct entries, has won herself a copy of the book. I hope that you will enjoy reading it as much as I did.

It’s always really interesting to read your blog Larelle. Thanks for replying and keep posting & interviewing those connected with the band.
Being a 11/12 year old at high school I can always remember a group of older girls hanging about and some of them wearing ‘The Cuban Heels’ badges.
Sticks in my mind cause I never heard of them and never heard again about the group till I got into the Minds.
Very cool girls but they backed the wrong lot from Johnny & The Self Abusers!
    Take care! 💚

Forgot to enter, twat that I am!
See this Larelle, nice to see a Scottish acting legend being very nice about the original version of the band: https://www.glasgowworld.com/whats-on/music/interview-peter-capaldi-simple-minds-glasgow-1980s-5010169
Would so love to hear a soundboard recording from that venue!

I did see that Capaldi interview, yes. I was aware that there’d be a history there as I learned from when I interviewed Jaine Henderson that the Dream Boys would rehearse and record at the Hellfire Club which her brother David was running. SM would rehearse and demo stuff there as well. I didn’t know that Peter had seen them so early though – but I guess all the arty types and even those on the fringes would have known the buzz around Simple Minds at that point. It seemed as if they were literally the ONLY band in Glasgow at that point. Lol. It would be some gem if something of that quality actually existed from the Mars Bar, for sure.
