The Maker Of I/O on AI

Posted on March 9, 2023October 3, 2023 By Priptona No Comments on The Maker Of I/O on AI

I posted this on my Facebook feed just now and decided to add it here. I’d love to ask Jim his thoughts on it…but I may as well call to Ailsa Craig for all the good it will do. I no longer feel comfortable with posting things to SMOG and that would most likely be just as ineffective anyway, so…might as well piss in the wind and post/share it here.

What was he saying last week about being “and ocean in a drop”? Nope…still just the same old “drop in the ocean” as always, no matter how much you try and sugar coat it and take a rose-tinted view, and that ocean is just getting bigger and bigger.

It seems Perer Gabriel is ready to embrace AI. I’m not sure I’m ready for humans to become completely obsolete. Then agian, as an existentialist, I’ve never really been able to grapple with the reason why we exist in the first place? Perhaps it is our ultimate destiny to be the sex slaves of these things? Perhaps the purpose was always to get to a point where we’d make our own existence “surplus to requirements”?
(Snippet is from the latest Uncut magazine.)
