The promotional hob-nobbing that Jim and Charlie (and at times the rest of the band too) have done over the past couple of weeks to plug Direction Of The Heart has been pretty unreal. I don’t recall such a swell of promotional schmoozing like this for Walk Between Worlds.
There are firsts on the cards coming up! A special recording for Sky Arts sees them performing all of New Gold Dream within the confines of the beautiful looking Paisley Abbey, they appear – as far as I am aware – for the very first time on ‘Later…with Jools Holland’ on Saturday night (Oct 29th), then also on Saturday night, an interview with Jim and Charlie will feature on Billy Sloan’s show on BBC Radio Scotland. Along side that, in recent days there has been the album signings in Manchester, Glasgow and London, and between all of that, there have been countless other interviews. Such a wealth of stuff that even I have struggled to keep up with it and see/hear it all.
Liz Truss resigning as Prime Minister threw a spanner in the works with some interviews, like their one for BBC Breakfast that was due to air on Friday. The interview still took place, but was aired on Saturday morning instead, which meant I missed it (as opposed to being ready for it on Friday morning then being disappointed when ‘it didnae happen’). Thankfully someone recorded it and uploaded it to YouTube.
My favourite bit of this interview? Charlie Stayt asking Jim to explain what was happening during the clip shown from TOTP and Jim saying “Well, that was me when I wasn’t eating very much” and I completed the sentence by saying inwardly “but shagging loads and looking damn fucking hot as fuck!” ??? GODDAMN!
On Thursday, Jim was on the panel for Steve Lamacq’s Roundtable for BBC Radio 6 Music and I made sure I tuned in live for that one. (Clickable link in the sentence.)
Anything else that comes up in the meantime I will try to keep abreast of and report here. Let’s see how that goes! Lol. For now…Saturday’s looking good! BBC Two at 9.35pm for Later… and then from 10pm for Billy Sloan (there should be no real overlap as Billy usually airs his interviews in the second hour of his show, so Jim and Charlie should not be on until after 11pm.
OKAY! Uni calls. Ta ta!
Poor Charlie must wonder why he bothers turning up to these things. ? ( I suspect he?s probably quite happy to let Jim do all the talking though ?)
???? He got the lion?s share of conversation out of me on Saturday. Lol
