Firstly, I hope my regulars that visit and those who land here on the odd occasion are enjoying the new look site. I know it has been going through some aesthetic changes of late and it took some searching for me to find a new theme that I was happy with. This current layout will be how the site will stay for the foreseeable future (ie: at least for the next four years).
I do apologise for certain niggles and bugbears that need sorting out. Emojis are no longer supported on the blog – particularly in the comments section, so you may find that any previous comments with emojis or any new comments you may like to leave will now have emojis displayed as question marks. I have been trying to find a solution but I am worried that some recommendations I am getting will have a detrimental effect on the way the rest of the site looks. I tried something yesterday to solve the emoji problem and it knocked out a lot of the image thumbnails on the site which, for the sake of some visible emojis, is not worth it – for me.
While I worked on getting the site to look the way it now does (which I am extremely happy with), any new content I wanted to add was put on the back burner. I had also been going through a bit of a …. Cooling off period, shall we say, in recent months. I’m working on getting things back on track with a return to regular content like Minds Music Monday, Kerrsday Thursday, as well as keeping up with gig reviews. I’m also hoping to get other frequent content posted besides these regular postings.
I still have a lot of archived posts to work through, sorting out broken links, broken images, content that is no longer relevant and requires deletion, etc. With nine years of content and well over 6,000 posts, this is going to be a lengthy process. In the meantime, I’m hoping that my visitors experience minimal disruption and are able to find and read the things that interest them and that this blog continues to be a fun, exciting and entertaining space, not just for Simple Minds fans but for all music fans.
Lastly, a friend tagged me on Facebook to another of Icehouse’s social media posts, featuring yet another of the Roadrunner 1981 photoshoot images of Jim and Iva in the streets of London. I’ll add it to the ‘featured image’ section of this blog post so it will be visible on the homepage. Enjoy!
