Minds Music Monday – Life In Oils 2023 Extended Version

Posted on May 8, 2023October 3, 2023 By Priptona 2 Comments on Minds Music Monday – Life In Oils 2023 Extended Version

If you know me, you know my love for Life In Oils. All of that heavy breathing and panting from Jim at the start of it is just sssooo bloody sexy! This mix has been nicely done. They haven’t overcooked it and the adding of the drums has really lifted it.

In my DREAMS stuff like this would be done for a … now the time has passed and it ain’t gonna happen, fucking goddamnit … SONS AND FASCINATION/SISTER FEELINGS CALL box set! The ONLY box set I will EVER buy in future is one for those albums. Anyway….rant done.

This is great. I listened to Boys From Brazil from 110Berlin last week and I thought it was good but wasn’t really that bowled over – it was good but not different enough, you know? It’s hard to improve on absolute perfection though. This extended Life In Oils really works. Me likey! And the thing I like this time is that it isn’t overly busy and not overcooked.

Anyway, see what you think. Happy MMM!

    Hi Priptona!

Thank you for the plug! That anyone would listen to, let alone appreciate, the mix is a real thrill. Life in Oils is an odd one. Who is that female singer? What?s the lyric? Shadow/hoddo/had a tick? Could be Japanese. Maybe it?s Ono.

Your observation regarding the Brazil mix is spot-on. In fact, it goaded me on to attempt another ?mix?. If anyone complains – I?ll send them here.

Anyway. Your blog! Apart from the dream giver redux site, yours is the only non-corporate Minds resource out there. I?ve discovered a lot of bootlegs due to your site, so thank you for that alone! The Priptonaian (?) asides/eruptions extoling the singer?s alleged spongeworthiness are…not for everyone, but then why would anyone want everyone anyway? And your S&F/SFC celebration series is especially cool. Read it twice.

    Keep on keepin? on!

      Hello,
Sorry for the delay in my reply. You are most welcome for the plug. I am behind in getting to listen to your newer mixes that you have worked on. I hope to catch up over the weekend.
As for the lyrics to Life In Oils – I can?t be sure: possibly shadow/follow/halum?/take – I think it?s most likely a British or European woman doing the backing vocals. I suspect it might be Jacquie Bradley who was co-running the Hellfire Club in Glasgow with David Henderson, or it may even be David?s sister, Jaine?
Yes?sorry about the posts about Jim. Lol. I think it is why I put the warning on the blogsite?s subheader. I try not to let my feelings get aired too overtly these days.
And thank you for the kind words re: the Sons And Fascination posts. I really enjoyed putting these posts together and all that I learned about that period of the band.
Thanks so much for visiting the blog and checking out all the content. It?s great to know that fans are finding it entertaining and informative. All the best! ???
