Ah now, come on Billy Sloan. As a professional radio presenter and music journalist I actually thought better of you, I did. But this last showing of your obvious prejudice is enough. I’m outing it!
You see, for some time now, I’ve been getting the feeling that dear Mr Sloan isnae a fan of the utterly fantastic Hamish Hawk. And there only really is one thing to say with regards to that – MORE FOOL HIM. But…whatever unfathomable reason there is behind that, it’s his to have. He’s well within his rights to not like Hamish’s music and choose not to play any of Hamish’s tracks on his show. As he has pointed out to listeners in the past, it’s his show. Fair enough. And Billy has done good sending some new music my way in the past. Most recently it was Lo Moon – compounded by my good friend Ronnie McGhie I have to state. Ronnie championed Lo Moon even more emphatically again. Ronnie also champions Hamish.
The latest snub from Billy however feels just like the most blatant gaslighting I’ve ever seen. As I say, choose not to play his music on the show, but the least you can do is acknowledge his name on the bill at Bellahouston Park next year! Above is a Facebook post informing us that his old pal, old friend, old chum is on this week’s show – and there was me thinking he was getting a snub fae Billy an aw for all the promotional schmoozing he’d been doing lately, Billy was conspicuous by his absence during said spate of promos. But….all’s well that ends well, and here we are.
But, note the details about the Bellahouston show – with Facebook page links – ONLY to Future Islands and KT Tunstall. It’s as if Hamish Hawk doesn’t exist.
Well, let me reassure you, he does! And he ‘s doing pretty damn well anyway. So, you just keep on being a silly Billy and I’ll keep on championing Hamish right here.
