In the past, Jim has taken the time to shine a light on people who work behind the scenes for Simple Minds; from instrument techs, to roadies, to wardrobe and catering staff and many others, from all areas of the SM family and entourage.
A real gem amongst them is having her last day on the job tomorrow. Elaine Hawkes at Quietus Management is retiring and I wanted to take this opportunity, publicly via this blog, to thank her for her service, not only with Simple Minds but with the other bands on the Quietus books, including Suede, Pretenders and Simply Red.
As for Simple Minds directly, they have been managed by Quietus for the past 12 years and Elaine has been heavily involved with their management.
On a more personal level, I’d like to offer my gratitude towards Elaine for extending her kindness, warmth and understanding to me through my years as a Simple Minds fan. She never once made me feel like the “silly obsessed ninny” I frequently felt (and sometimes still feel) I was (am). She’s always been patient and kind and that has meant so very much to me.
Finally, I’d like to pass on my congratulations to her and to wish her many happy years ahead and good fortune with any future endeavours she may want to pursue.
Elaine, I will miss you being a part of the Simple Minds gang. Thank you for everything,
Larelle (for a change I decided not to be Prip! Lol)
