Tossing The Coin – Real To Real Cacophony Advert And Reviews – 1979, 1980

I’m putting these two snippets together, as they are both to do with Real To Real Cacophony. One advert from a copy of the NME dated Feb 9th, 1980, with two glowing reviews from David McCullough and Ian Cranna (spelled incorrectly in the ad) – as well as a dedicated (and horribly scathing!) review from…

Jim – NME, October 4th, 1980

As part of the clippings I received from Belgium today, I got the full NME article this photo was part of. I had previously only had a copy someone had posted on an eBay listing. I’ll just share this pic from it for now, but will scan the full article with the A3 scanner tomorrow….

Clegg Kerr

Oh, I HATE doing this stuff…but I like sharing shots I’ve never seen before. And I wish I had the money to pay for the use of all these. Paying for the upkeep of the blog each year is enough. I keep contemplating monitising it, but I abhor the thought. I don’t want ads all…

WTF! Brian’s Briefs!

How have I never actually taken this in before?! I’ve been seeing this cover since I started collecting SM memorabilia from the earliest days of my mega fandom. It’s – I am for all the world sure ERRONEOUSLY – stated as being a pic of Mick (surname spelled incorrectly)…but I am pretty sure that’s Brian….

Capital City Curious Kerr

Taken to YouTube for something and this appeared on my homepage. It had been a while, so I had to watch it. Geez he’s mesmerising! I know these days when I watch these early performances that he’s most likely off his tits…but it doesn’t make it any less fascinating. Each time I view one of…

Minds Music Monday – I Travel

A really nicely done clean up job of this footage. Looks braw! Date is wrong (as of my posting)…would def. be 1980 as I Travel was released as a single in Sept. 1980. The footage now looks great though…you can see just how “wasted” Jim is…FULL glassy-eye effect. Naughty boy! Ah…those “sherbet straws”, eh? 😉…

Weekend WhirliGIG Wish – The Lyceum, London, Oct 26th, 1980

A Sunday evening gig. OH MY FLIPPING GOD – THEY WALK ON TO KANT KINO!!! Could have better sound quality…a better quality recording exists, by all accounts. This version is obviously a tape of a tape of a tape and running a little fast…Jim’s voice is almost chipmunk-esque at times, though he usually has a…

Weekend WhirliGIG Wish – Back To Amsterdam, 1980

Back to Amsterdam, for the first night of the two weekend gigs they did on March 22/23, 1980. The second gig was recorded for Dutch radio, this first one is a bootleg…but considering the passage of time and recording techniques for “home jobs” back then (plus endless shares, and shares, retaping, copies of copies), it…
