More Drip-fed Details For Book Signings (Should it be Aye Write or “Aye, right”?)

A post on the Simple Minds Facebook page confirmed there will be other signing events taking place in Glasgow and London (as well as the Toppings Edinburgh event) but the ‘cloak and dagger’ continues.

Now, for me, I don’t give a flying hoot about attending any of these signings but I know a number of fans who do and don’t live in these cities and will most likely want to travel to one of these events. Why the clandestine approach? I just don’t get it! Those in the cognoscenti already know about the Edinburgh signing – I’ve posted about here. Tickets have already been purchased by fans.

JUST ANNOUNCE THE OTHER APPEARANCES ALREADY, FFS!

I’ve got to say that I find it odd that events are happening in both Glasgow AND Edinburgh. I mean, it’s not as if the two cities can be easily reached from one another? *shrugs* Why not somewhere further north? Of the two central belt cities just Glasgow and then say Aberdeen or Inverness? And why not somewhere within the northern parts of England? Manchester or Newcastle? Or even the Midlands. So odd.

As for the cities announced: I searched again for the Glasgow appearance to glean ANY info as to when it might be happening. I went back to the Aye Write website and can see Kerr and Burchill’s names listed under the A-Z of authors so it would appear that they are indeed doing something for Aye Write but their names aren’t clickable and there’s still no event page on the site for the event.

The list in question.

As for London? Who bloody knows! Could be anywhere…Waterstones, Foyles, somewhere else entirely, London’s a big place.

So…at some point, sometime after the book is published, there will be events in Glasgow and London. Aye Write runs from November 6-16 so within those ten days, Kerr and Burchill will make an appearance in Glasgow. I wish I could narrow it down further for you, but my efforts have been in vain. If only there was SOME WAY to find out, like from the band’s social media or website? ??

Much in the vein of the stable doors opening after the horse bolted reversing the summer gig announcements – everywhere else before Bellahouston Park – grade one numpty move there an aw.

To quote Isa – “PEOPLE HUV TAE KNOW!”

I feel for the fans that don’t live that close to these cities. I guess Mr Kerr would say “tough luck” or some such positive mantra.

When the details are FINALLY confirmed, I will post them here. Until then, we’ll keep guessing…
