Aberdeen Gig Countdown – 41 To Go!

Famous last words about the Paris countdown being “unlucky thirteen”, eh? Oh, well. It’s was easy enough to reschedule, mercifully! And, Paris in May will be nice! Should be nice and warm. Ooh, la la! In the meantime, my first gig will now be in Aberdeen.

Minds Music Monday – Empires That Dance – Someone Somewhere In Summertime

A special Valentine’s MMM this week with a very special recording of Someone Somewhere In Summertime by Empires That Dance, dedicated to Gordon and Angelique Machray. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone. It can be a bit of an isolating day for the lonely. Even if we all think this day is corporate, capitalist claptrap, when you’re…

Superb Owl Advertising – Hoo Ha, Blah blah, La La La La

It’s one of the world’s biggest sporting events and it centres around American Football – and THAT, my friends, is the full extent of my knowledge of the Superbowl – or as I like to invariably refer to it as “Superb Owl” – as, quite frankly, I’d devote a heck of a lot more of…

I’m Okay, You’re So-So – The Ups And Downs Of Study

This week has been an iffy week with study. But that’s nothing new. It seems to be a trend.  My first week, the introductory week – I felt I had a handle on things. I knew my way around the OU site well enough, as I had been familiarising myself with it as much as…

My Week So Far

Sunday – study good, but slightly doubtful. Monday – study better, buoyant and full of optimism. Tuesday – study free day. Went for a walk. Felt good. Attempted break-in of our home in the afternoon shook me up badly. Online uni tutorial last night was nerve-wracking but ended positively. Wednesday – after effects of attempted…

Minds Music Monday – Brucey Bonus – Belated 38th Anniversary To Sparkle In The Rain

It’s a belated Happy 38th Anniversary to Sparkle In The Rain. The anniversary was actually yesterday and there was celebration at Casa Read by way of this beauty getting a play on the old turntable. A favourite track? Well, during yesterday’s airing of the album, Waterfront was sounding particularly good. And it was one of…

Minds Music Monday – Manchester 28/11/1982

I listened to this over again early on Sunday morning. I love how clearly Jim’s voice comes across on this recording. I don’t know who was responsible for recording it? Frank, mabbies? Seeing as it’s a soundboard recording…? Dunno. But I am sssoooo very thankful it exists! I mean, Newcastle from the week before is…

Happy 25th Anniversary – Earthling

For all the years I had been a David Bowie fan it was the mid to late 1990s that, upon reflection, feels like it was the most exciting period. I had become a ‘diehard’ in 1985. I can’t remember if I ever have told the story here… I probably have. Anyway, in case not, I’ll…
