Perks Of The Job…

That I get to share lovely photos that Virginia took of him. In all the many wonderful things that have happened in the past seven – YES SEVEN – years of my Simple Minds fandom, few have been more wonderful to me than becoming friends with Virginia.

Not only is she one of the best photographers ever, she’s a fabulous lady to know. I regard her as one of my dearest friends. And I can only hope she thinks likewise of me.

As much a celebration for me being a Minds fan for seven years today than it is in honour of His Kerrness’s birthday, I share these photos.

I have all four in my collection. The one of him smiling away with the rest of the boys behind him, near Duddingston Loch, within Holyrood Park in Edinburgh, taken in 1981 is a firm favourite. I don’t think there has ever been a man with a more beautiful smile. (Fuck, I talk such mush!) It’s on permanent display on my wall. The others are on rotation as part of my absurd collection of others (never taken an official count but it currently stands at around 160 photos – approximately).

You can always check out a sample of Virginia’s collection at www.virginiaturbett.com and make enquiries about prints.

Five Years A (Mega) Fan

While it is that beautiful man’s birthday – it is also my fan anniversary. This year it is FIVE YEARS since I became a Simple Minds uber fan.

I clean near forgot as I have had something else rather dominating my thoughts today – and it wasn’t that it’s Jim’s 60th, no.

I’ve been hard at work on something today and there’s a few other bits and pieces going on…all enough to distract me from remembering my fan anniversary for several hours today.

But here we are. FIVE YEARS! Of following the most amazing band in the world, EVER. From the very earliest days right up til the present moment…Simple Minds have been my entire universe these past five years.

I can’t imagine my life without this band in it now.
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ – a heart for each of the current members of the band.

Minds Music Monday – All For You

Four years ago my exploration of Simple Minds began in a chronological order. This was the first song in that chronological exploration that I fell in love with. It certainly became one of the most…intense “love affairs” I have ever experienced. But, once hooked, I never saw it ending.

But, perhaps, like all intense “love affairs”… it has an expiration date? I would dearly love for it to stand the test of time.

(via priptona-weird)

Yes…not sure of the exact date, but I’m adopting this one – I’m sure Jim wouldn’t mind!

HAPPY SM FAN ANNIVERSARY TO ME!!

If you told me one year ago I would be this in love with this band – well…

I always liked them, but yeah…I’m definitely a “die-hard” now!
