Classic Scottish Albums Podcast – New Gold Dream

BBC Radio Scotland “Classic Albums” host Davie Scott talks us through New Gold Dream, with input from Jim Kerr, Bruce Findlay, and “rent-a-gob”, Paul Morley (among others). And…there’s not even a single mention of the bath…even though Jim’s lyrics are discussed quite heavily. (Yep…the old Prip is slowly returning…ever happy to ogle) And you KNOW…

Ya Meet ‘Em And Then Ya Greetin’

I love this band, still…but…yeah, sadly that’s too much for me, and far too short notice too. If you are planning to go to Maidstone, for example, you have THREE DAYS to come up with the money – unless sold out beforehand. If not obvious what I am on about – Simple Minds today announced…

Yep – Welcome To The “Brexited Flatland”…

But…the BIGGEST shock in all this? The Mister getting political! Holy fucknuts! Never thought I’d EVER see the like of THAT ever again! Him showing his political views. Seriously, Jim. GOOD FOR YOU! Now…THIS IS THE STUFF, eh? Be careful, though…I could almost kiss you again…start calling you Sir once more, and put my Priptona…

Tweekly FM Stats – July 31st

I didn’t share last week’s because…there was not a single SM track on it…and the week before…well, they were legacy tracks from the previous week’s listening. At the moment, I can still only listen to early stuff, and I haven’t listened to anything beyond Sparkle In The Rain. I certainly still cannot bring myself to…

Caezar – Oran Mor, Glasgow – July 27th, 2018

From the personal front…I endured the hell on earth that is the red-eye overnight coach from London to Glasgow. It had been a VERY warm day in London, and I was dreading boarding a coach with no working air con. Thankfully, THERE WAS WORKING AIR CON! Praise be! At least that aspect of the journey…

Maybe Maidstone – Part 2

Purely because – needs must. My friend has travelled some 12,000 miles from Australia, and her schedule is VERY tight. If I am to meet her – and I *WANT* to meet her! (I HAVE to meet her!) – then…the Maidstone gig is on! For the sake of beautiful Ally, I will bring the sun…

Stan Tippins – A Life On The Road

One of those hallowed snippets of conversations with Jim I’d had in the past was about Stan…but I never looked into the full extend of Stan’s involvement with Mott The Hoople…to the degree that he WAS Mott’s vocalist until Ian Hunter stepped in. Then a long career as tour manager for the great and good…
