Postal Paintings…

These two will be going off to their respective new homes in the next couple of days.

Not sure I’ll ever get any idea of photo print prices from Virginia Turbett now…having rather crazily offered the painting up to her. I do like to make myself appear a loon of the highest order! But…it was just that it was…a piece of me, you could say.

It was a stupid and ridiculously sentimental thing to do. But, I guess I was just feeling very vulnerable. I don’t know. It was just all coming from the heart…and it probably just came across as deranged or some such.

Anyways, they are off to loving homes and…I just don’t know what to do next. Another of Jim?

Birds? Got plenty of metallic blue paint left! Kingfishers, jays and kookaburras (also part of the kingfisher family, for those who did not know) abound! If you can the think of any other iridescent blue tinged birds, drop me a line…

The Turbett – The F*** Up!

Yep! Monumental fuck up happened today. I wanted to “fix” the niggly bits that were worrying me about his nose. The more I tinkered. The more I dabbled, the worse it got! To such a degree that I was left with little choice but to paint over his whole nose completely.

I HATE PAINTING (and drawing!) NOSES!!!

The worse thing is…it WAS a good nose…just not a wholly accurate nose. I was worried about its proportion and angle. That’s what I was trying to fix. The main bugbear was the left side of it…it just didn’t look quite right. And on the whole, it looked a little too long.

But now?! I’d have it back in a heartbeat! Better that than what I’m probably going to end up having, needing to redo it. And I need to smooth the canvas out now…somehow. He’ll look like he has bogeys if I just paint over the top of it now. Lol

Oh…just…kill me now!

I hope to god I can put a decent looking nose back in place.

Progressing The Turbett

More work on The Turbett today. I really like it…and then I don’t.

Just me never feeling like I’ll ever truly do him justice.

I’ll put the “reworked” original of Virginia Turbett’s photo for a “compare and contrast” comparison.

WIP – The Turbett

Only just thought of the title. Lol. It’s not had a working title…so let’s just call it “The Turbett”. I would like to hope that Virginaia would like it…at least as it looks at the moment.

The nose. It’s not quite his nose. Need to put his right ear back in place. Better define the left ear. So much still to do!
