Smuterday At The BFI In November

Saturday, November 10th, should now be retitled “Smuterday”. Lol. At least at the BFI in London, anyway. Through October and November, they are holding a “Comedy Genius” season…included is a day of Great British smut. Eh, eh? You know ya wanna watch it! I would…watch it, that is. Lol. May just have to make a…

Magazine Clippings – 1982 – Touring The New Gold Dream

All things New Gold Dream in the touring schedule. It’s 1982, and us antipodean types are still being deemed “colonial”. Lovely! Now, where’s my convict’s outfit? ???   Group photo clipping dated Nov 3rd, 1982 – NME Lyceum gig ad – Nov 20th, 1982 – NME “Return from the colonies” clipping date October 30th, 1982…

Tossing The Coin – Real To Real Cacophony Advert And Reviews – 1979, 1980

I’m putting these two snippets together, as they are both to do with Real To Real Cacophony. One advert from a copy of the NME dated Feb 9th, 1980, with two glowing reviews from David McCullough and Ian Cranna (spelled incorrectly in the ad) – as well as a dedicated (and horribly scathing!) review from…

Weekend WhirliGIG Wish – Newcastle City Hall, 20th Nov. 1982

Of course, we have had the visuals for this gig, in a truncated 35 minute set that Virgin Records recorded…but this is the full gig from the night. It would be wonderful if Virgin would release the full visual experience…or even a higher quality audio experience of the full gig than this already quite passible…

Wolfgang Flür – The Lexington, Nov. 10th, 2017

The Lexington is becoming a new favourite venue. Wonderfully intimate, good acoustics. My now two shows seen there, one of them was definitely a highlight of the year. But onto last night’s show of Mr Flür and his supports. First up was Nik Dagger and The Grip. Nik says he’s from Europa, one of the…

Weekend WhirliGIG Wish – The Tube, Nov 26th, 1982

A visual one for this week. Their Friday night appearance on The Tube. It went out live. There’s an audience there. We can call that a gig, not merely a TV appearance. (It’s also where the pic for the “whirliGIG” artwork came from). Enjoy…
