So Much To Say …. So Little Time …

Cyrano De Bergerac was amazing! More on that to come.

There has been pre-sale tickets released for the added Simple Minds PSG gig with all proceeds going to UNICEF for Children in Ukraine.

We’re in!

And…there are just some odds and sods to talk about as well.

And … there’s this!

A taxi driver? Really, Jim? Lol

And…. he was a “good boy”?! Pfffffft! You ain’t fooling no one there, Kerr! 😂😂😂😂

Anyway, I shall try and do an extended post on today’s trip to the city in the morning. I know you’re all DYING to know about it! Lol

Laters!

An “Act Of Love” in The Mail…

To say I am NOT a fan of The Daily Mail (otherwise known as either the Daily Fail, or Daily Flail in this household) would be SOMEWHAT of an understatement! But…the rag (in its truest definition of the word) has declared Act Of Love as its “track of the week”. It seems the publication CAN indeed print something positive…from time to time. A shame some of the details are slightly inaccurate. NOT “unrecorded” – recorded as a demo. There’s a difference. The devil is in the detail. I would have assumed the “devils” at the Daily Fail would be masters at that by now. Then again, who needs details, right?

Looking Back By Moving Forwards – A Precursor To Next Week’s Book Release

I had a hoard of memorabilia come in this week and in amongst it was this article, written by Graeme Thomson, none other! Featuring in The Guardian on February 24th, 2012, just as the 5×5 Live tour is getting under way.

We know how I feel about that. Goddamn! I was out by just over two years. I will forever rue it!

Some of the discussion that takes place between Graeme, Jim and Charlie during the interview for this article features in the Themes For Great Cities book.

I thought I’d scan the article and post it here. Just as a little taster of what’s to come next week.

A footnote (and a chance for me to be a pedantic pr*ck); the inset photo of Jim is from 1980. October, in fact. It’s one from the Tavistock Square session. The same session the photo on the book’s cover comes from.

I Wish Life Could Be Swedish Magazines…

The line from Iggy Pop’s Five Foot One could not be a more appropriate title because, right now, I DO wish “life could be Swedish magazines”. Well, newspapers might be more accurate.

Anyway, that’s semantics.

This morning on the Simple Minds Official Group (or should that now just be “Simple Minds Group”?), a Swedish fan shared a few images from local newspapers featuring SM.

I commented saying how awesome they were and gave a thanks for sharing. He replied to me, telling me that the Swedish National Library’s archive is open to the public during April and he’d be searching the archive and found some things.

And there is SO MUCH MORE than he shared on SMOG! A veritable treasure trove of previously unseen photos, articles and gig reviews, etc. It’s a pain in the bum to go through on a Smartphone or tablet/mobile device, so I’ll fire up the laptop tomorrow and see what I can find and try and get a better copy of the things I’ve seen so far – and more.

But for now…here is a small rough sample of the treasures in the Swedish Newspaper archive. The first pic is a very early one from 1979, all the rest are from 1981-1982.

If you are wanting to, you can search through the archive HERE. A huge thanks to Micke for posting about this today.

Kenny or Jim? The tussle is real. Erm…THREESOME?! I WISH! Then again, Kenny’s troosers are worryingly high. Lol. Jim’s are not much lower to be fair…

Kerr Down Under – In NewKERRstle

Oh, holy fucking shitflaps, he’s bringing up 2020 as the full itenirary tour year for Oz, again! I should have pulled out all the stops to go! I NEARLY did! I nearly booked a flight that would have had me out there by now. I was at the Etihad website, I was at the last page, cursor hovering over that “pay now” box…but, something told me not to. “No fall back” if the money doesn’t come in by January. It’s like permanently being on the crest of a wave…just waiting and waiting for the fucker to crash, but it just rolls and rolls and rolls, never crashing to the shore. WHERE’S MY SHORELINE SPUME, GODDAMNIT!?!

I wanted to “seize the moment” – not wait until the next tour. Because…life is full of uncertainty. Why wait for the next one, when I could have NOW!? Albeit it was just one gig, and not in Sydney? It was Australian shores, near enough to Sydney for me (still within my home state) and (most importantly) happening NOW…not in two years time.

The time has elapsed now. The opportunity (what small window of opportunity there was) gone.

Que sera sera…

Oh, yeah…here’s the article from local Newcastle paper, The Herald – click here to read
