Mexican Minds

A short half page spread in local Mexican newspaper Reforma on Thursday night’s gig at the Pepsi Center.

I don’t have the best Spanish (well, any Spanish at all, actually) but, quickly casting an eye over it…seriously? We’re still bringing up Jim’s marriages? What exactly it has to do with the price of fish and this particular gig flummoxes me…but, it adds to the word count, I guess (a word count that could have mentioned the musicianship of the other band members, perhaps? Just a thought.)

Anyway…speaking of things that are neither here nor there…I loooooove that flamingo shirt! 🙂

The Flamingo Gringo! (Mr Striptease!)

Lucky Mexicans! Wow…they get him without a jaiket on! And…IN THE FLAMINGO SHIRT! Grrr! Lucky sods! Nae fair. I didn’t even get to see him in the flamingo shirt at all…let alone him taking his jacket off. I was robbed. ROBBED, I TELL YA! Lol

Anyway, here’s Mr Striptease, with Sarah, doing All The Things She Said last night in Mexico City.

Wall Of Love You Say, Sir? For Mexico!

Oh, I never knew Simple Minds had NEVER played Mexico. Oh, the fans will be in RAPTURES!

Oh, I am ecstatic for them! (The fans.) And only last night watching Waldemar Januszczak detouring to Mexico City to show us the Philip Guston murals (as well as Diego Rivera’s STUNNING pieces at the Ministry of Education building). Oh…all that AMAZING art! All that Rivera and Kahlo…to see their house! Holy fark!

I hope there are some AMAZING tour diaries from Cherisse when they are there.

Anyways…full details here…(or if viewing on desktop, visit simpleminds.com)

Anyway, let’s celebrate with some fantastic mariachi music. Ándale! Arriba!

And, yes…he made me all nostalgic for this…halcyon days *sigh*
