May contain a heavy dose of Jim Kerr
This Saturday sees the 40th anniversary of one of Simple Minds’ most memorable early festival appearances in Europe, at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark. By those who were there, it was a magical evening. As far as I am aware, Minds were not the headline act on the night. From what I can see of…

I’m up early this morning, in readiness for the final stint of study and assignment work. Uni breaks up for the summer officially on Thursday. I didn’t expect to have any headspace for this week’s MMM but I have a few minutes up my sleeve while I down my first morning coffee. On pondering what…

UPDATE: A second part has been posted below. A bit of a different one for MMM this week. One I wasn’t expecting to post in all honesty. I saw this posted late last night and thought it worthy of a link. Neil Saint of Retropopic Radio talks to Derek Forbes, Kenny Hyslop and Jim Kerr…

In light of last Saturday’s Record Store Day release of Neapolis, nearing the 25th anniversary of its release, there is only one song I could go for in regards to MMM today. I know many will have War Babies as their favourite track on the album. It’s a great song and much stronger as a…

All For You was one of the earliest songs -chronologically speaking – to sway me into full diehard SM fandom. Pleasantly Disturbed blew my mind when I first heard it. It’s such an epic! Akin…
Released 39 years ago this week (anniversary coming up on March 12th) is the second single from Sparkle In The Rain, Up On The Catwalk. After Waterfront, this was one of the first Simple Minds songs that I truly took any notice of. I think it was the video that captured me more than anything….

But … is he right? This guy gets some factual information wrong, and I disagree on certain aspects, but 100% agree with others. Overall, he makes some really good points. See what you think. I had been thinking about sharing this video after the past 24 hours. Jim’s post today just compounded my decision to…

I have no exact date for this, for as much as I try and have some knowledge of release dates and things, I am really not as much of a Simple Minds anorak as some others are. I was struggling to choose something for MMM this week, so I went searching via release date. I…
After last week’s stunning Kerrsday photos taken by Horst Waschinski in Cologne in March 1982 – here is another set of photos from 1982. These are from 3 September, 1982 in Helsinki. It’s officially the first gig of the LONG New Gold Dream tour that spans from autumn 1982 through to the summer of 1983….
