Smash Hits reviews for Chelsea Girl and Life In A Day (Album). Fab reviews that initially go nowhere for the guys. But they don’t give up – nor should they!
Again – another fantastic review in Smash Hits for Empires And Dance this time. It gets 9/10 – and yet… Still…it’s 35 years on, why does it matter now.
Smash Hits reviews from Sons And Fascination/Sister Feelings Call era, 1981. Still takes them another 12 months to finally get a sniff of chart success. People just don’t know a good thing when they hear it!
Some interesting snippets from copies of Smash Hits magazine from 1979. First page shows news of SM having music from Real To Real used in a documentary. The other page shows a keen fan writing in and somewhat getting the wrong end of the stick as to what was happening. Love these kind of bits…
Not sure I’m gonna like this (started listening to this on Spotify a while back and didn’t really get it, but just my preference), but will give it another go. Might feel/sound dif. on vinyl? :-/
Used to think – even til today that either Up On The Catwalk or Wonderful In Young Life were my very fave #SimpleMinds songs – but it’s this! It always goes up to 11 on volume! I deafen myself each time! Lol. Oh, and the second chorus – Jim’s vocal is sooo close – like…
But not as much as I BLOODY LOVE THIS!!! Lol. #SimpleMinds #partyforone
Bloody LOVE IT!! #SimpleMinds #partyforone
Making the charts at this time of year, 33 years ago! Still sounds as fresh as a daisy today 😉 Still remember watching the video for the first time all those years ago. Thinking that that X-ray equipment to see in that lady’s bag was AMAZING! Lol. And who is that strange, skinny, pasty man?…
