Goodnight Louisa – Instore + Signing at Assai, Glasgow – 26/09/25

I must state from the off that I was unaware of Goodnight Louisa until earlier this year. I first became aware of Louise McCraw (aka Goodnight Louisa) when she was part of Zoe Graham’s band at the album launch event for TENT back in March.

Louise is making her own strides in music as a solo artist in her own right. Her second album as Goodnight Louisa was released yesterday. Titled Marathon, recent singles released from the album, ‘Jennifer Aniston,’ ‘Goner,’ and ‘Drew Barrymore’ have been attracting attention from the likes of BBC Radio 6 Music with ‘Goner’ gaining radio play on the station’s ‘Indie-pendence Play’ list.

To celebrate the release of Marathon, Goodnight Louisa performed a short set in-store with a signing following. I had previously taken a quick listen to the singles when released but this was my first dive into the album proper yesterday. I love that element of surprise that you can offer yourself when you try out a new artist’s work (new for me as a listener anyway) – hearing their music live for the first time and they instantly hook you in. That is exactly what happened to me with Goodnight Louisa yesterday. The short set perfectly showcased the album with performances of ‘Champion at Giving In,’ ‘Goner,’ Jennifer Aniston,’ ‘Actor,’ ‘Drew Barrymore,’ and ‘Polaroids from Malta’ all performed.

The only regret I have about yesterday was being too skint to buy myself a copy of the album and have Louise sign it but this I will try to rectify in due course.

There are so many fantastic Scottish musical artists making such wonderful music right now. I hope that it can maintain this momentum of excellence and people will get behind these fantastic artists and support them by all means possible to them, being that of sharing social media posts, buying merch from Bandcamp, buying physical formats of their music, attending local gigs (which also helps to support local venues) – any of these things will help.

Do check out Goodnight Louisa, you won’t be disappointed. And keep your eyes peeled here for more on Goodnight Louisa in the near future.
