Christiane F. – Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo | 1981 | Uli Edel | West Germany
An utterly bleak and desperate movie. Set in 1970s West Berlin and based on a true story, Christiane F. is also an indisputable and relatively unknown masterpiece. David Bowie’s Berlin period soundtrack incredibly fits the movie’s depressive atmosphere. Just watch it!
This film deals with difficult subjects, like teen prostitution and heroin addiction (the real Christiane F. – the relevant post about her on The Underestimator,
here– became a junkie at the age of 12 and a prostitute at the age of 14 to support her drug habit) with disturbing authenticity. A must watch.
